Hello!  I am a special education teacher in Chicago working on finishing my Master's.  Below are some helpful apps, some of which I have used in the classroom, some that just look awesome!

1.Dragon Dictation (Free!)

What it is: Voice recognition software
Concerns: Takes a long time to get used to your voice, requires much editing afterward.
Recommend? Yes, this is the best option for a free dictation app

2.  ABA Flashcards- Emotions (Free!)

What it is: Shows flashcards with names of emotions
Concerns: Some pictures are questionably accurate, which is not uncommon in emotion flashcards
Recommend? Great for a quick refresher between classes or when in a tough social situation

3. Drawing Free (Free!)

What it is; Draw in many colors, stamp, and save work
Concerns: Not highly sophisticated or fancy, but does the job
Recommend? Amazing for any use- fine motor skills, math, writing letters, etc!  i have used with great success in math centers.

4. Shakespeare (Free!)

What it is: Can read full-text of any Shakespeare play and search for any word or phrase within the play
Concerns: Hard to read on phone, does not provide a modified text
Recommend? Excellent for helping students learn how to do basic research, or for a teacher to have them only read parts of the text

5. Sight Words 2 (Free!)

What it is: 140+ sight words to review, plus games (unscramble, bingo, etc.)
Concerns: Not the best quality, chosen words are not based in research, teacher can't add words
Recommend? Great for a quick review between classes or before reading aloud for our lowest readers
